Great Performance of Los Pinos’ Girls at Americano’s Speech Contest

On Wednesday, March 13th, students from Colegio Los Pinos, Colegio Menor, Academia Cotopaxi, Colegio Americano (National and International Sections) gathered at the Annual Interschool Speech Contest hosted by Colegio Americano de Quito.
Six of our students delivered their speeches on this year’s topic “What is a pressing problem and possible solution to unconscious bias in relation to the media? for the Initial Category; “What is a pressing problem and possible solution to unconscious bias in relation to education? for the Intermediate Category, and “What is a pressing problem and possible solution to unconscious bias in relation to politics?” for the Advanced Category. Ximena Villamar and Valentina Pombo represented us in the Initial category, Ana Paula Catellanos and Cyntia Jiménez in the Intermediate Category and Camila Avellaneda and Nicole Gortaire in the Advanced Category.
Each one of our students prepared a thoughtful speech in which they gave their opinion and point of view about this worldwide problem. On the day of the contest, they demonstrated an excellent command of the language and fluency. Ximena Villamar won First place in her category and Valentina Pombo Third place in her Category.
We are very proud of each one of them since it was an extremely challenging competition and it confirmed, once again, the commitment and effort of our students and English teachers.
